Jonathan Jacobs, Ph.D., Sr. Scientist, MRI Global
Dr. Jacobs research experience spans academic, federal, biotech and defense sectors. He is currently Sr. Scientist at MRIGlobal in Rockville where his research focuses primarily on bioinformatics and functional genomics research programs with biodefense and biotech applications. Dr. Jacobs earned his Ph.D. in Cell Biology & Molecular Genetics from the University of Maryland, College Park and completed two NIH postdocs at the National Cancer Institute and National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Upon completing these fellowships he joined MedImmune where he worked in their Antibody Development & Protein Engineering division until 2010.
During this discussion, Dr. Jacobs will highlight many of the differences between academic and biotech research environments, including commonly held myths of working in industry. Additionally, he will detail the industry research track and offer tips on how to prepare for an industry research career.
