Angelea L. Dukes was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 26, 1964. At an early age she became interested in the performing arts and joined several local theatres. Her love for the arts also led her to instrumental music at which she taught herself to read music, and played the saxophone for several years in the high school band. In 1982, after graduating from Baltimore City High School, she attended Ohio State University and simultaneously enlisted in the United States Army Reserve. Upon completion of her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1986, she proceeded to fill her military commitment as a commissioned Officer in the United States Army, serving for six years on active duty and 14 years as a reservist.
After leaving active military duty service in late 1992, she accepted a position as a restaurant manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken National Company and discovered a passion for hospitality. Not long after joining the fast food industry, Angelea Dukes realized that in order to be successful in the hospitality industry, it would be necessary to diversify into other areas of management so she left the fast food industry after three years and accepted a position as a dietary manager for a local hospital. Her professional journey led her to hold management positions in many different industries from full-service restaurants to contract management, always within the hospitality industry.
After ascending to a position as Corporate Training Manager for a Food Service Contract Management Corporation, in 2005, she decided to pursue a life-long passion of becoming a business owner. After completion of Subway Restaurant Franchisee training in 2005, she knew she found her opportunity. In 2005, Subway Restaurants was at the top of successful and growing franchises, and she knew the time was right for investing in a concept with a steady, proven track record. After years of being a loyal customer, in 2007 she purchased her first restaurant and became an owner. For the past five years she has successfully owned and operated the franchise located on the campus of Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. Not resting on the success of a single unit, Ms. Dukes is constantly innovating and looking for new opportunities to expand her business interests.
